The Andover Carnival is in need of your help with marshalling the Procession on Sunday, 16th July. This is a essential part of making the procession safe for both participants and spectators. It’s not just a big help but also a lot of fun!
If you can offer your assistance for all or part of the afternoon, there will be a meeting for volunteers (male or female, must be over the age of 18) on 5th July at 6.30p.m. at the Best Western Andover (formerly the Quality Hotel). All the relevant information will be given to you then.

A staunch supporter of Andover Carnival, locsl family jeweller David Mellor, is once again stepping forward to give invaluable support.
The firm has been in business for around 40 years, with branches in Andover, Totton and Eastleigh.
Sunday, 16 July is rapidly approaching and the Carnival could not take place without the support of local businesses such as David Mellor.
This year the Andover Carnival committee had a very difficult job selecting the two charities to be sponsored. An unprecedented number of applications was received and it was hard to choose just 2 from 19. However, after much thought and discussion, it was decided that the lucky applicants would be Andover Lipreaders and Andover Breathe Easy.
Andover Breathe Easy is a support group for adults with lung conditions and aims to help them understand and manage their breathing problems. They hold social gatherings with speakers from all walks of life, including getting advice from doctors and respiratory nurses, and tips on home safety.
Financial help from the Carnival proceeds would help them to pay for venues and provide a projector for speakers to use, also day trips for members.
Andover Lipreaders teaches adults with hearing loss to manage their hearing loss difficulties and learn lipreading. The aim is to help them cope with hearing loss and enable effective communication, thus reducing the social isolation this can cause.
Funding from the Carnival will help them to provide sessions for 30 to 40 adults, in three terms of ten lessons each.
Lloyds Banking Group is again demonstrating its involvement in the local community by giving its support to the Andover Carnival.
The Group throws itself into fundraising and volunteering throughout the U.K. and after a two-year period of support for Children in Need, the group is now supporting Mental Health UK.
The Andover Carnival committee is delighted that Lloyds Banking Group are again the main sponsor for the 2017 Andover Carnival on Sunday 16th July. Their sponsorship goes a long way towards making the day a big success.

The search is on for this year’s Carnival Royalty. The competition is again being run on line. To enter your child you must go to andovercarnival.org and fill in the application form, uploading a head and shoulders photo of your prospective Prince or Princess!
There will be an open on line vote, so you can get all your friends and family to vote for your candidate.
Entries close on 23rd April.

The children selected to be Prince and Princess will receive cash prizes of £75 each and the two Attendants £25 each.
The Carnival Royalty will ride on a special float in the Carnival procession and there are occasions during their year when they will attend and open functions and events.

So, the Christmas and New Year festivities are behind us and you may be feeling a bit bored. What you need is something to engage your imagination and give you an incentive.
How about considering an entry in this year’s Andover Carnival?
Anyone can have a go – local charities, organisations, sports, youth and social clubs, businesses, groups of neighbours and friends.
If you want to go for a float in the Carnival Procession a vehicle and driver can be supplied for you, or alternatively, you can enter as a walking group.
Either way, you can get a lot of fun and satisfaction from participating in this annual local event, plus helping to raise money for charity.

We know it’s not been that long since the Carnival but we are already working on next years event which will take place on Sunday, 16th July. The stage has been booked and we already have acts applying to play in the park and keep the crowds entertained.
The 2016 Carnival, thanks to sponsors and the generosity of the crowds on the day, allowed Andover Talking Newspapers and Challengers to share £4000. So the search is now on for next years Charities.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING, 5th Sept. 2016
7p.m. at the WHITE HART HOTEL
The 2016 Annual General Meeting of the Andover Carnival will be held at 7p.m. at the White Hart Hotel, Andover, on Monday, 5th September.
Andover residents are invited to come along. If you have any criticisms or helpful suggestions for improvements, this is the place to air them. Feedback is essential towards taking the Carnival forward. Hopefully there will be a full room on the night.
Calling all community-minded Andoverians!
The Carnival committee are working their socks off to give the people of Andover a great day on July 17th, but there are only a dozen of us. We need help especially for marshalling the parade, helping to set up and dismantle everything in Vigo Park – any task that comes up on the day. It’s not just work, it is fun!
We especially need at least 3 fit volunteers to push the barrows at the back of the procession to collect the last few unwanted pennies.
