This alcohol policy aims to manage the potential problems associated with irresponsible sale and consumption of alcohol. Key issues considered were the protection of minors, dealing with excessively intoxicated adults and a restriction on glass containers.

Members of the public are not restricted from bringing alcoholic drinks in to the Vigo park for personal consumption, except where they contravene the policy set out below.

  • A strict ‘Challenge 25’ ID policy will be in place at the entrance gates to ensure that members of the public bringing in their own alcohol are not under 18 years old.
  • Members of the public wishing to enter the event without an acceptable form of ID will have any alcohol confiscated. Acceptable forms of ID are any of the following:
    – Original Passport
    – Original Drivers Licence Photo Card
    – Original National Proof of Age Standards Scheme (PASS) Card
  • No glass bottles or containers are permitted in Vigo park. Any person found in possession of a glass container will have it confiscated or will be told to leave the Vigo park.
  • No large quantities of alcohol will be allowed in Vigo park.
  • Any person in possession of a large quantity of alcohol at the entrance gates will be asked to confirm it is for their own consumption only.
  • Any person purchasing alcohol for a minor will have the alcohol confiscated and may be ejected from Vigo park.
  • Any person in possession of a large quantity of alcohol will be monitored to ensure that it is not being sold on site or distributed to minors. All such incidents will be logged with event control.
  • Security staff will challenge anyone that appears to be under 25 if they are in possession of alcohol in Vigo park.

Alcohol Sales on site

All sales of alcohol in Vigo park will be from the Railway Tavern static licensed bar, operated by the licences of the Railway Tavern who have submitted the required Temporary Event Notices. All sales will be dispensed in plastic bottles or containers.

Alcohol Search Policy

There is a zero tolerance of alcohol misuse and underage drinking, we will work to achieving this through:
Communication with the public
Complying with our legal responsibilities
Working closely with local authorities and police

  • A search policy will be in operation at the entrance gates throughout the event. The key aims of this search policy are to help ensure that prohibited items do not enter Vigo park and that minors do not bring alcohol in to Vigo park.
  • Signage showing a list of prohibited items will be displayed at all entrance gates.
  • Searching will only be carried out with the persons consent with female – female and male – male. Anyone refusing will be denied entry to the event.
  • As an un-ticketed event, queuing is expected to be minimal at all entrance gates. However preparations have been made to manage a queue at the entrance gates should the need. The search policy is not expected to add a significant amount of time to the ingress.

The gate staff will enforce the following restrictions:

  • Alcohol will be confiscated from those that do not pass the ‘Challenge 25’ ID policy.

ID required will be:
Photo card driving licence
Passport
Proof of age cards bearing the PASS hologram

  • Glass containers and other prohibited items will be confiscated or alternatively the person in possession of the item will be offered the opportunity to dispose of the glass containers in the waste bins provided at each entrance or be refused entry to Vigo park.

Items prohibited in Vigo park include (but are not limited to):
– Glass bottles and containers.
– Fireworks, flares and smoke canisters.
– Laser pointers or projectors.
– Guns (including BB guns), knives, clubs, bats or other items that could be used as a weapon.
– BBQ and camp cooking equipment
– Gazebos and tents.
– Bicycles
– Illegal substances.
– Naked flames and candles

Illegal Substances Search Policy

There is a zero tolerance of drugs misuse; we will work to achieving this through:
Communication with the public
Complying with our legal responsibilities
Working closely with local authorities and police

  • Clear signage informing public there is a zero tolerance of drug misuse and that they may be required to allow a search of their person, clothing and belongings on entry and during the event. If they refuse the police maybe informed This is a strict condition of entry.
  • Searching will only be carried out with the persons consent with female- female and male – male. Anyone refusing will be denied access into the event.
  • Found substances will be witnessed being placed into a tamper proof sealed bag and signed by the searcher with the details recorded into a register held within event control.
  • All substances will be secured within a steel lock box in event control with the key being held by the security manager All found substances will be handed over to the police when practicably possible.
  • Any controlled drugs found will be seized and the police informed immediately.
  • Anyone identified as dealing will be searched and the information passed to the police immediately via event control.
