THOUSANDS of people flocked onto Andover’s Streets and Vigo Park as the town was once again filled with Andover Carnival’s unique celebratory spirit.

While the crowds in Vigo Park basked in the perfect weather, many with picnics spread on the grass. The event boasted a whole host of entertainment from live music, including Class A and family fun from face painting to a challenging climbing wall and a free cycle experience.

Led by the Carnival Royals, with the Lion, Witch & the Wardrobe, the open-themed carnival procession came down from Weyhill Road past Beech Hurst where it collected the walking procession, then continued through the town centre before finishing at Vigo Road.

Onlookers were rewarded with a colourful and musical spectacle, as the longest procession for many years snaked through the streets. The fire brigade helped keep the waiting crowds cool in the record temperatures with a dash of their water cannon spray.

We are delighted that Iris has agreed to accept the role of Patron she will be an outstanding Ambassador for the Andover Carnival.
