Andover Carnival is hoping to make a very big difference to two very small, but indispensable Andover based charities: Andover Child Contact Centre and Andover Fibromyalgia are now set to benefit from the fundraising activities of the Andover Carnival this year.
Andover Child Contact Centre is a little heard of charity that helps to support the children of estranged parents. In situations where divorced parents cannot get on with each other, the charity enables the children, who find themselves in this situation through no fault of their own, to have contact and maintain relationships with their parents. The charity provides these children with a safe environment where they can play and have fun with mum or dad, supervised by the charities volunteers. Andover Fibromyalgia & ME Chatterbook Group aims to encourage people living with Fibromyalgia & M.E in the area to chat via their website forum or Tumblr and attend regular meetings (if they are able) so members can support each other & their families. Fibromyalgia is a chronic illness characterised by chronic widespread pain, hypersensitivity to pain (and other stimuli), chronic fatigue and sleep disturbances. It was a really difficult choice, made all the more so by the current financial climate and a record number of deserving applications. Indeed, the committee wishes they could help them all, and would like to thank those who applied this year and applaud the tireless hard work they all contribute to helping those in need of support in Andover.
The Andover Carnival comes to town on Sunday 7th July 2013. This year sees an Open Theme so we will all eagerly await the float procession to see what themes they have chosen to decorate their lorries. Together with a walking procession – last year saw a multitude of fabulous blue Smurfs – marching bands and vintage vehicles, Andover Carnival is shaping up to be the bigger and better than ever. The organisers hope this fun filled family day, which includes circus performances, entertainment and live music in Vigo Recreation Park will raise enough to enable them to support these local charities who, in turn give support to some of those most in need in our community.
